Small Tavern Map
Here is a nice way to describe the small tavern map:
The first thing that hits you is the smell: a heady mix of sweat, spilled drink, and boiled cabbage.
The second thing is the noise: a cacophony of laughter, shouting, and the occasional ringing altercation. The tavern is small and cramped, with tables filling every available inch of space.
The walls are lined with bottles and a makeshift stage has been erected at one end of the room.
A scruffy-looking bard is performing to a half-interested audience, accompanied by the tavern keeper’s daughter on fiddle.
In one corner, a group of dwarves are engaged in a heated game of chance, while in another a lone figure sits hunched over his tankard.
All in all, it’s just another typical night at the Red Dragon tavern.
How To Use the Small Tavern Map
The small tavern can be used as a meeting place for adventurers, or as a base of operations for a group of adventurers.
It can also be used as a place to find quests, or as a place to rest between adventures. The tavern can also be used as a source of information, or as a place to sell loot.
Finally, the tavern can be used as a combat encounter, if the party gets into a fight with the other patrons.
Large Tavern Map
As a Dungeon Master (DM), you can describe the large tarvern map like this:
The tavern is a large, rambling mass of a building, with crooked corridors and dark alcoves.
It’s easy to get lost in the maze-like layout, and many secrets are hidden in its shadows. The common room is loud and rowdy. The floors are sticky and the air is thick with the smell of sweat.
The other rooms of the tavern vary in size and atmosphere, from the small and cosy to the sprawling meeting rooms.
There are also a number of private rooms where guests can enjoy some privacy – for a price.
No matter what your mood or fancy, you’re sure to find something to suit you in this tavern.
How To Use the Small Tavern Map
The large size of the tavern provides plenty of opportunities for adventure.
Characters could get lost in the maze-like layout, or stumble upon some illicit activity taking place in one of the private rooms.
They could also be hired to protect a VIP visiting the tavern, or be caught up in a brawl that breaks out in the common room.
With so many possibilities, this large tavern is sure to provide plenty of fun.
Thieves Guild Tavern Map
Feel free to “steal” this narration of the Theives guild tavern map:
The tavern is dark and shadowy, with conspiratorial whispers echoing in the corners.
Beneath the table, a rat scurries back and forth, searching for scraps. The rogues and scoundrels that populate the tavern gather in small groups, huddled around tables covered in grime.
The barkeep nods to each newcomer, his eyes dull and lifeless.
In one corner, a bard sits playing an upbeat tune on his lute, while in another a game of cards is underway.
The players are laughing and jeering as they gamble away their coins.
At the back of the tavern, a staircase leads down to a second, underground level, where the real business is done. This is the Thieves Guild tavern, where secrets are traded and deals are made.
It’s a dangerous place for the unwary, but for those looking for adventure, it’s the perfect place to start.
How To Use the Thieves Guild Tavern Map
To use this tavern in your campaign, simply have your players roll for stealth or perception when they enter.
If they’re successful, they’ll overhear snippets of conversation that could lead to their next adventure.
If they fail, they’ll be accosted by one of the unsavory characters in the tavern and will have to fight their way out.
Harbor Tavern Map
Get your DND party in the mood with a crisp and swashbuckling description of the harbor tavern:
The Fat Mermaid Tavern is the kind of place where you can lose yourself for days.
It’s located right on the edge of the water, and the constant sound of waves crashing against the docks is like a lullaby.
The tavern itself is made of sturdy wood, with a thatched roof to keep out the elements. Inside, there is a single floor with satellite rooms branching off in several directions.
The tavern is full of tables and chairs, with a bar in the back.
You can also find a series of private rooms, perfect for travelers who need a place to stay.
The Fat Mermaid Tavern is always full of people, and there’s never a dull moment. Whether you’re looking for information, companionship, or just a good meal, you’ll find it at the Fat Mermaid Tavern.
How To Use the Harbor Tavern Map
The tavern can be used as a base of operations for characters who are looking to get involved in some seafaring adventures.
It can also be used as a meeting place for NPCs who are looking to hire adventurers for a specific job.
And, of course, it can simply be a place for the characters to relax after a long day of adventuring.
Hearth Tavern DND Map
Invite your DND party into the warm ambience of the hearth tavern with the following description:
The Stone Hearth Tavern is a cozy little establishment that’s perfect for anyone looking to take a break from adventuring.
The tavern is built around a giant stone hearth that’s always kept fueled and burning bright.
The heat from the fire is said to be magically infused, providing warmth and comfort to all who sit near it. The walls are lined with shelves full of books and games, and there’s always a fire blazing in the fireplace.
The Stone Hearth Tavern is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cold pint after a long day of adventuring.
How To Use the Hearth Tavern Map
In terms of gameplay, the Stone Hearth Tavern can be used as a safe haven for weary adventurers.
It can also be used as a hub for side quests and other non-critical tasks.
NPCs can be introduced here, and important plot points can be delivered through conversations with the tavernkeeper or other patrons.
If you’re looking for a place to transition your campaign from one arc to another, or simply want to provide your players with a place to rest and recuperate, the Stone Hearth Tavern is the perfect location.
Destroyed Tavern Map
Take a Bard’s knack for exaggerated storytelling by describing this tavern in rich detail:
The tavern is a wreck.
One wall has been completely shattered, and the rest of the structure is leaning precariously to one side.
Debris is strewn everywhere, and it’s clear that the place hasn’t been inhabited for some time.
But despite its derelict state, there’s something strangely compelling about the tavern. Perhaps it’s the distinctively shaped bottles of liquor that line the dusty shelves, or the rickety chairs that are arranged around the broken fireplace.
Whatever the reason, the tavern has a certain charm that makes it perfect for a night of adventuring.
How To Use the Destroyed Tavern Map
If you’re looking to add a bit of intrigue to your next campaign, consider using the tavern as a central location.
Have your players explore the wreckage and uncover its secrets.
What caused the tavern to be abandoned? Is there any treasure to be found? And what dangers lurk in the shadows?
With so many possibilities, the broken tavern is sure to be a hit with your players.
City Tavern Map
Here is how I might introduce this city tavern map to my players:
As your eyes adjust to the dim light, you see a sea of bodies crammed into every corner of the room, all jostling for position at the bar.
The noise is deafening, a constant din of shouting and laughter punctuated by the occasional breaking glass. Welcome to The Broken Anvil, one of the most popular taverns in the city.
If you’re looking for some grub, a fight, or just a place to forget your troubles for a night, this is the place for you.
Just be careful not to leave your wallet on the table…or your life could be forfeit.
How To Use the City Tavern Map
The Broken Anvil can be used as a meeting place, a setting for fights, chases, and other action scenes.
In a one-shot or full-length campaign, the tavern can be used as a hub for side quests and random encounters.
Lush and Overgrown Tavern Map
As one of the more unusual tavern maps, here is one way to describe it in your adventure:
Dense green shrubbery covers every inch of the floor, walls, and ceiling.
A one-eyed gnome serves customers at the counter. As you make your way to an empty table, you have to step over roots and vines that are creeping across the floor.
The chairs are made of sturdy oak, but they’re cushioned with moss and lichen.
The tavern is dimly lit by candles that flickering in the breeze from the open door. Despite the overgrown state of the tavern, it’s clear that it’s well-kept and well-loved. There’s a sense of community here, of warmth and safety.
And as you take your first sip of a drink, you can’t help but feel that this is exactly where you belong.
How To Use the Lush and Overgrown Tavern Map
One of the best taverns I’ve ever had in my games was one that was overgrown with vines and shrubbery.
The forest had encroached on the tavern, and it now served as a cool encounter in the midst of all the greenery. The tavern keeper was a gruff gnome with an eye patch who didn’t take kindly to strangers, but he was also fiercely protective of his regulars.
I remember one particular session where the party’s Halfling thief tried to pick his pocket, only to find himself on the receiving end of a swift kick out the door.
Needless to say, the rest of the party had a good laugh at his expense.
In any case, if you’re looking for a unique take on the classic tavern setting, why not try one that’s been taken over by nature?
My players loved it.
Dwarven Tavern Map
Check out this fun description of my Dwarven tavern:
The Dwarven tavern is a boisterous place, full of laughter and the clinking of mugs.
The ceiling is low, and the tables and chairs are all designed for short, stocky humanoids. The menu is full of hearty fare, designed to sate the appetites of even the hungriest of dwarves.
he decor is simple but masculine, with dark woods and stone walls. The fires crackle in the hearths, providing warmth and light. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and good cheer, with dwarves sharing stories and jokes with their fellow patrons.
Even the most surly of dwarves can be found relaxing and enjoying themselves in this tavern, which has become a second home for many of them.
As you step inside, every eyes turns to watch you enter their space…
How To Use the Dwarven Tavern Map
A tavern can be a great place for your Dungeon and Dragons party to gather information.
If you’re looking for a particular Dwarf, chances are good that you’ll find him in a tavern that is made by Dwarves and for Dwarves.
The small, cramped space will make your party feel like giants.
But it also provides an opportunity for them to gather information about their target. The bartender is likely to know where the Dwarf is, or at least be able to point your party in the right direction.
In addition, the other patrons of the tavern may have information that could be useful to your investigation.
Of course, taverns can also be dangerous places, so it’s important to use caution when questioning strangers.
However, if used wisely, a Dwarven tavern can be a great tool for your DM arsenal.
Winter Tavern Map
A winter campaign is a wonderful challenge for your players. Share this tavern with them in this way:
The White Dragon tavern is covered in a thick layer of snow, with only the flickering lights from inside giving any indication of life.
The tables outside are completely blanketed, and the open side of the tavern offers a view of the cold winter night. Despite the chill in the air, the tavern beckons with a warm welcome.
Inside, the fire crackles in the hearth, providing a welcome source of heat.
The people inside seem happy and content, making it clear that the cold is not a deterrent. The rich smells of ale and stew fill the air, adding to the sense of comfort and warmth. It’s clear that this tavern is a refuge from the cold, and that anyone would be welcome to find respite here.
How To Use the Winter Tavern Map
A winter tavern can be a great source of heat and respite for adventure weary travelers who have marched through the snow for days on a quest.
Showing the visual image of the tavern map while describing it can really life your players’ spirits.
The DM can describe the scene inside, with a roaring fire in the fireplace and a group of people huddled around it, warming their hands.
Snow drifts up against the windows and door, and the wind howls outside.
Inside, it is cozy and warm.
The travelers can order hot food and drink, and dry off their wet clothes. They can also find out about any local news or rumors that might be relevant to their quest.
Taverns can be a great place to advance the plot of a winter campaign, and they can also be a lot of fun for players.
